Fourth grade students were to create artworks featuring three traditional subjects in art this year - still lifes, landscapes and portraits. Here are some of their landscapes, created by making a textured plate for printing, making a series of prints and then painting with watercolor over their dry print. The results are stunning. They have wonderful compositions and really got creative with their use of color. Bravo!

4th grade, January 2013

Monsters don’t go to business meetings, blah, blah, blah. Monsters don’t grow up. Monsters don’t cook tofu. Monsters don’t sell girl scout cookies. We had a blast with this project. I read ‘Monsters Don’t Eat Broccoli’ by Barbara Jean Hicks and then we began to brainstorm other things that monsters don’t do. The kids blew me away with their imagination and humor. Here are a few great examples.

Chase Street art display at the CCSD Youth Art Month show at the Lamar Dodd School of Art.  I am so proud of the work created by Chase Street artists. The opening reception is Sunday, March 2, and the work will be up throughout the month of March. Go see it!

Wow! What can I say? This collaborative drawing was created by one truly extraordinary young artist. Kiran graduated from Chase Street last year, but his legacy lives on. During his time at Chase, he was an incredible inspiration to everyone that he encountered. This drawing now lives in the art room and can continue to inspire art students for years to come.
